Happy Fall to you all,
I want to start out by thanking all of you for supporting 811 and damage prevention. Damage prevention is a shared responsibility and without your support, it would not be possible.
I am happy to report that our Remote Ticket Entry usage is increasing, thanks in large part to our call center agents encouraging callers to sign up. There are several advantages to our callers in utilizing our remote applications. For more information, ask an agent next time you call.
In the last issue, I shared that the governor signed our latest bill. The new bill created a damage notice that is required to be called into the 811 center by an excavator who causes damage to underground lines. This information is proving to be extremely helpful – we can track where damages are happening, when they are happening, and what is the root cause for the damage. Our plan moving forward is
to incorporate this information into a data analytics program that will provide us with information to build a risk analysis system to assist in identifying opportunities for training, education, and public awareness. Our goal is zero damages and we are confident that this information will assist in achieving that goal.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Good things are coming in 2022.
Thank you all for your support and hard work in damage prevention and creating a safer Tennessee. Remember to always Call or Click 811 Before You Dig!
Respectfully,
William “Bill” Turner President Tennessee811
