We made it to 2022.
2021 was another monumental year. Despite the storms, COVID, and other challenges we had a record-breaking ticket volume year. We processed over 1 million tickets that generated over 5 million notices to our member utilities. Online ticket entry increased from 46% in 2020 to 50% in 2021. I want to thank our remote team at Tennessee 811 and everyone who has committed to helping by entering their locate requests using our remote applications.
July 1, 2021, was the enactment date of our latest amendment to the Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act (TCA 65-31-101 et seq.). Significant improvements were made to the law with the input and endorsement of all stakeholder groups. These improvements were discussed and approved for submission by the Underground Utility Damage Enforcement Board (UUDEB). Also, in September of 2021, the UUDEB’s rulemaking process concluded with approval of the rules that had been submitted to the Secretary of State for
consideration. A copy of these rules can be found on the Tennessee Public Utility Commission’s website under the Damage Prevention Division.
We are gearing up for another exciting year. It has already started strong with an increase in volume for January. We have our Damage Prevention Summit coming up the end of March (3/30-4/1) in Franklin Tennessee. Our annual membership meeting will occur March 31st at 9:00 AM Central during the Summit, but our annual 811 Invitational Golf Tournament is scheduled later in Spring, on April 20th. We hope you’ll plan to join us at 12:00 Noon (Central) at Hermitage Golf Course. Registration information for both events is available on our website at www.tn811.com.
Thank you all for your support and hard work in damage prevention and creating a safer Tennessee. Remember to always Call or Click 811 Before You Dig!
Respectfully,
